Routine screening covers only a handful of cancers: breast, cervical, colorectal, prostate and, for some smokers, lung. Pancreatic, ovarian, liver and esophageal cancers have no standard screening and are often found late. The Galleri test analyzes fragments of DNA in your blood for patterns linked to cancer. If it detects a signal, it also predicts the likely tissue of origin, which helps focus follow-up testing. Who Galleri Is Designed For
The test is intended for adults with elevated cancer risk, most commonly those 50 and older. A strong family history or a past smoking habit can also make it a good fit.
What a Result Tells You
Most people receive a “No Cancer Signal Detected” result. If a signal is found, the report names where it most likely originated, and Dr. Nedeau orders the imaging or specialist referral needed to confirm it.
What Galleri Doesn’t Replace
Galleri adds coverage. It doesn’t stand in for your mammogram, colonoscopy or Pap test, which remain the best tools for the cancers they target.
Timing and Turnaround
The draw is quick, with no fasting required. Results typically return in about two weeks, and many patients repeat the test once a year.
